Frequently Asked Questions.
Where is Stravaigin Coaching based?
Stravaigin Coaching is based in Las Vegas, Nevada; however, I am able to travel for all speaking engagements and can conduct coaching sessions virtually. If you are based in Las Vegas then we can meet in person either in a quiet space, or outdoors embracing the natural beauty that surrounds us.
What makes you qualified to coach me?
I take a pragmatic, real-world approach to life and leadership coaching—one that is grounded in hands-on experience, often in high-pressure, high-stakes situations. Throughout my career, I’ve learned that the most impactful leadership stems from a values-based approach, and I’ve come to realize that my personal values are best expressed through helping others as a servant leader. Coaching feels like a natural extension of my military service, allowing me to use my experience to support, guide, and empower others on their own journeys.
My military career spans 29 years, of which 23 years were active duty, with the vast majority of my time dedicated to developing the careers of peers, junior team members, and future leaders. I’ve led teams in a variety of complex and challenging environments - whether in combat, search and rescue operations, or multinational humanitarian missions - always with a focus on achieving success and fostering growth. My leadership has been nationally recognized on multiple occasions, and I was described by a senior USAF General as “the best officer they had ever encountered”.
Beyond operational expertise, my experience includes leading winter expeditions in the European Alps, where I organized and led personal development and team-building initiatives. This experience allowed me to cultivate resilience, teamwork, and personal growth in some of the most extreme conditions.
Academically, I hold a Master of Arts in the changing culture and ethos of military leadership, and I conducted an in-depth research program as part of a Master of Science in Leadership and Management, where I studied the effects of remote leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. These academic pursuits, alongside my practical military experience, have enriched my understanding of leadership dynamics and human behavior, equipping me with a wealth of knowledge to help others navigate the complexities of modern leadership.
In coaching, I bring this rich blend of experience to help you unlock your full potential. Whether you're looking to develop leadership skills, improve team dynamics, or find clarity in your personal and professional life, I am here to provide the guidance, support, and accountability you need to succeed.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Coaching and therapy both aim to help individuals improve their lives, but they differ in focus, approach, and methods:
Coaching:
Focus: Coaching typically centers on personal or professional development, goal setting, and achieving specific outcomes. It often emphasizes performance improvement, skill-building, and future-oriented strategies.
Approach: Coaches work collaboratively with clients to identify strengths, set goals, and create actionable plans. The relationship is often more structured and goal-driven.
Methods: Coaches may use techniques like accountability, feedback, and skill assessments. They often focus on practical strategies and solutions to help clients reach their objectives.
Therapy:
Focus: Therapy (or counseling) generally addresses emotional, psychological, and behavioral issues. It often explores past experiences and underlying problems that affect mental health and well-being.
Approach: Therapists provide a safe, supportive environment for clients to explore their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. The relationship is often more exploratory and healing-oriented.
Methods: Therapists use various therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, or mindfulness practices, depending on the client's needs.
Key Differences:
Goals: Coaching is usually focused on achieving specific goals or improvements, while therapy often deals with healing and understanding deeper emotional issues.
Duration: Coaching may be short-term and focused on specific goals, whereas therapy can be a longer process that delves into more complex emotional challenges.
Qualifications: Coaches may not require specific licenses or formal training, while therapists are typically licensed mental health professionals with formal education and training.
Both coaching and therapy can be valuable, but it's important to choose the right approach based on individual needs and goals.
What is your cancellation policy?
Coaching sessions are non refundable if cancelled within 48 hours, unless in the case of an emergency or if an alternative appointment can be made for that week.
